Plant Operator – Earthmoving Equipment – Leading Hand

About the role

Cleanaway is seeking an experienced Plant Operator with leadership abilities to join its Resource Recovery site in Clayton. This permanent, full‑time position runs Monday to Friday, 5 am‑1 pm, offering a competitive hourly rate plus a leading‑hand allowance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate earth‑moving equipment including front‑end loaders, material handlers, skid steers and forklifts.
• Assist drivers and the public with correct load placement and ensure safe loading of dry waste such as metal, wood and general rubbish.
• Excavate, load, compact and cover waste materials in line with operational procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment through general housekeeping duties.
• Provide mentorship to team members and uphold high‑quality customer service standards.

Required profile

• Current Excavator and Loader ticket.
• Demonstrated leadership or leading‑hand experience.
• Strong work ethic, reliable attendance and a positive attitude.
• Good mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Front‑end loader operation.

• Forklift licence.
