The case load covers aged care, clients' homes and MTHCS outreach sites, and the therapist works closely with the Allied Health team, supported by Allied Health Assistants under a delegated scope of practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide physiotherapy services to acute, residential aged care and community clients of all ages in Ouyen and Sea Lake.
  • Deliver generalist clinical services, which may require collaboration with specialist and regional health services.
  • Offer individual and group interventions, including exercise groups and hydrotherapy programs.
  • Work with colleagues in a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible client outcomes.
  • Collaborate with service providers, organisations, community groups and consumers to improve primary health care services.
  • Implement flexible, innovative and holistic services to meet community needs.
  • Take part in professional development, including seminars and learning opportunities.
  • Stay up to date with relevant developments, legislation and regulations.
  • Supervise, mentor and delegate tasks to Allied Health Assistants within their scope of practice.
  • Complete statistics and monthly reporting requirements.

Required profile

  • Degree or equivalent approved qualification in Physiotherapy and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Previous experience as a physiotherapist in community, acute and aged care settings.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to enhancing independence and client empowerment.
  • Current driver's licence and police check.
  • Desirable: rural health experience, membership of a professional association, and experience in community work with facilitation, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Applicants submit a resume and a covering letter addressing the selection criteria, along with copies of formal qualifications (hard copies needed at interview). Appointment is subject to a satisfactory police record check and a Working With Children Check. Applications are sent to the People and Culture team in Ouyen.
