Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

Support the pharmacy team at Gladstone Hospital by performing essential non‑professional and technical tasks that ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality medication management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare prescriptions and non‑sterile products under pharmacist supervision.
• Manage pharmaceutical inventory, maintain imprest systems across wards and clinics, rotate stock and monitor expiry dates.
• Process returned medications in line with departmental standards.
• Enter data accurately and support training of pharmacy support staff.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement activities and uphold Queensland Health policies and legislative requirements.

Required profile

• Willingness to complete the imprest module of the Certificate III in Pharmacy Services.
• Relevant pharmacy training is highly regarded, though not mandatory.
• Comfortable using computers and eager to develop skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Demonstrates responsibility, strong organisation and a developing understanding of pharmacy services, legislation, dispensing and inventory processes.
• Clear, professional communication skills with the ability to engage respectfully with staff, patients and the community.
