About the role
HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for volunteers to make one-on-one or small-group pet therapy visits to residents in residential aged care in Woy Woy. Volunteers share the company of a well-behaved dog, a gentle tame bird or a rabbit, moving room to room and spending time in common spaces. The aim is to bring comfort, connection and joy, sparking conversation, reducing loneliness and helping people feel less isolated.
Required profile
- Age 18 or older.
- An NDIS Worker Screening Check, arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
- A well-behaved pet who loves people and enjoys gentle interactions.
- Commitment of one hour per week for a minimum of 6 months; a suitable weekday (Monday to Friday) can be arranged.
- Volunteer interviews and orientation must take place on a weekday during business hours.
