People & Culture Officer

About the role

The People & Culture Officer will support the full employee life‑cycle for the Top End region, working from Darwin and reporting to the People & Culture Manager in Melbourne. This role blends recruitment, onboarding, compliance, staff wellbeing and workforce development while ensuring culturally respectful processes for First Nations communities.

Key responsibilities

• Implement recruitment, selection, onboarding and induction strategies for the Top End.
• Coordinate expressions of interest from local First Nations people and manage volunteer assignments.
• Oversee termination and exit activities for regional staff.
• Support staff wellbeing and professional development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies and regional regulations.
• Collaborate with the Regional Director and local managers to align HR practices with cultural safety standards.

• Demonstrated respect for and experience working with First Nations communities.
• Strong ability to manage competing priorities and support staff development.
