People & Culture Director

About the role

Join a leading mid‑sized commercial law firm (380+ staff) as the People & Culture Director. You will shape and execute the firm‑wide People & Culture strategy, partner with the Executive Leadership Team, Board and senior stakeholders, and drive workforce transformation and an inclusive high‑performance culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the People & Culture strategy aligned with long‑term business goals.
• Oversee workforce planning, organisational capability, succession planning and leadership development.
• Design and manage remuneration and benefits programmes, providing recommendations to senior leadership.
• Provide strategic advice on workforce transformation, organisational risk and complex people matters.
• Lead the psychosocial hazards strategy and manage complex employee‑relations issues.
• Participate in the Operations Committee and DEI Committee while ensuring compliance with employment law and ISO 27001.
• Manage a People & Culture team of 10 direct reports.

Required profile

• HR degree or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of HR leadership experience, preferably within legal or professional services and a partnership model.
• Proven experience in workforce strategy, organisational design, employment relations and talent management.
• Strong executive stakeholder management, commercial acumen and governance/compliance expertise.
• Excellent communication, sound judgement and ability to build strong relationships.
