People and Workforce Development Manager

About the role

The People and Workforce Development Manager will join the leadership team of a values‑driven NGO delivering critical services across remote Northern Territory communities. This senior role blends strategic workforce planning with hands‑on operational support, focusing on building capability, wellbeing and a strong values‑aligned culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead workforce planning and capability development initiatives, creating systems, frameworks and leadership pathways.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and retention efforts, and coach leaders on people matters.
• Drive workforce wellbeing and WHS initiatives, building relationships with communities, stakeholders and training providers.
• Promote a strong, values‑aligned organisational culture across remote NT locations.

Required profile

• Proven experience (5+ years) in workforce leadership, HR or organisational development.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, especially with remote communities.
• Ability to balance strategic planning with operational delivery.
• Calm, approachable, solutions‑focused and culturally respectful.
• Adaptable, resilient and community‑minded with a deep understanding of remote service delivery in the NT.
