People and Capability Director

About the role

Emerging Engines is looking for its first Australian hire to join as People and Capability Director. You will work closely with CEOs of high‑growth companies, embedding yourself within client teams to design and execute data‑driven people strategies that boost performance.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with client leadership to define and implement high‑impact people initiatives aligned with business goals.
• Use data and metrics to track the effectiveness of people programs and adjust tactics as needed.
• Integrate People & Capability processes into client growth plans, ensuring seamless execution.
• Provide hands‑on support, rolling up your sleeves to solve complex people challenges.
• Act as a trusted advisor, offering candid feedback and challenging the status quo.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience (BP or above) in People & Capability or HR functions.
• Broad generalist knowledge across all HR domains in Australia, with enough insight to operate in other jurisdictions.
• Data‑driven mindset with a belief that people functions can directly impact business performance.
• Resilient, gritty, and comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments.
• Collaborative attitude with no ego, ready to contribute to a team‑first culture.
