Payroll Operations Specialist

About the role

Johnson Controls is looking for a Payroll Operations Specialist to join its ANZ Payroll team. Reporting to the Payroll Manager and supporting two Payroll Officers, you will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for the group.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day payroll operational support for ANZ, guaranteeing employees are paid accurately and on time.
• Maintain and update payroll process documentation, checklists, and calendars.
• Process all statutory and non‑statutory payments on schedule.
• Ensure data integrity within payroll systems and compliance with country‑specific requirements.
• Administer payroll processes, including data collection, calculation, and entry.
• Prepare summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, insurance, and non‑taxable wages.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and perform reconciliations.
• Support month‑end and year‑end payroll cycles.
• Submit Single Touch Payroll / Pay Day filings accurately and on time.
• Manage payroll and employee master file records.
• Liaise with third‑party vendors to ensure smooth payroll operations.
• Respond promptly to employee payroll queries.
• Assist with payroll system migration projects and ad‑hoc tasks.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in Payroll or HR Operations.
• Strong knowledge of interpreting Awards and EBAs.
• Experience in unionised environments.
• Payroll certification preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Business or related field.
• High attention to detail, strong time‑management and communication skills.
• Professionalism and discretion handling confidential information.
• Right to work in Australia.

Required skills

• Experience with payroll systems such as Chris21, Ramco, Workday or Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
