Payroll Officer

About the role

The organisation is a large not‑for‑profit provider operating across the Western Suburbs of Sydney. They are seeking a Payroll Officer to join a high‑calibre payroll team that supports over 10,000 employees. The role can be hired on a six‑month fixed‑term contract or as a permanent position, offering a hybrid work model with 2‑3 days per week remote.

Key responsibilities

• Process end‑to‑end payroll on a fortnightly cycle, meeting all statutory deadlines.
• Monitor payroll variance, update coding changes, and resolve employee queries with a strong service focus.
• Prepare payroll calculations for redundancies, long‑service leave and remedial actions.
• Manage statutory deductions including payroll tax, superannuation and workers’ compensation.
• Conduct month‑end and year‑end reconciliations, reporting and audit activities.
• Enhance payroll procedures, documentation and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of full‑cycle payroll processing experience in a large, complex organisation.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a fortnightly pay cycle and comply with legislative requirements.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in variance analysis and risk mitigation.

Required skills

• Dayforce payroll or Workforce Management module experience (essential).
