Pastoral Care Volunteer, Residential Aged Care

About the role

HammondCare is looking for a pastoral care volunteer to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly people living in a residential aged care home in Wahroonga. The volunteer is a Christian actively involved with a local Christian church and complements the work of the Residential Pastoral Care Coordinator, working under their direction.

Key responsibilities

• Support people to meet their spiritual needs
• Nurture spiritual development
• Supplement and complement the work of the Residential Pastoral Care Coordinator

Required profile

• Active Christian involved with a local Christian church in the area
• High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills
• NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
• Availability for a one-hour (or longer) commitment on a weekly or fortnightly basis, between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday

Required skills

• Pastoral care training such as Chaplaincy or Clinical Pastoral Education, or attendance at HammondCare pastoral care training
• Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to become a pastoral care volunteer

HammondCare is an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, funded by the Australian Government, which promotes links between elderly people and local volunteers.
