About the role

The R-6 Languages Teacher will join Darlington Primary School to deliver high‑quality language programmes for students from Reception to Year 6. This part‑time, fixed‑term role (0.4 FTE) focuses on fostering multilingual understanding, cultural respect, and intercultural communication.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and assess language curricula across Reception to Year 6.
• Integrate multilingual and cultural perspectives into everyday learning.
• Create inclusive classroom environments that celebrate linguistic diversity.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support student wellbeing.
• Engage families and the wider school community in language‑related activities.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with experience in primary language education.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, evidence‑based teaching practices.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with staff, students and families.
• Flexibility to adapt teaching approaches to diverse learner needs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of multilingual learning strategies.
• Experience designing and delivering language curricula for early years.
