Part-time Accounts Officer

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accounts Officer to join our Brisbane CBD office on a part‑time basis. You will support the finance team by handling day‑to‑day bookkeeping, invoicing and payment processing for our medico‑legal services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bookkeeping tasks including bank reconciliations and processing invoices, payments and receipts using Xero.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, preparing and issuing client and supplier invoices accurately and promptly.
• Monitor outstanding accounts, allocate payments, reconcile remittance advices and follow up overdue invoices.
• Prepare specialist statements and request invoices from medical specialists, ensuring accurate filing.
• Liaise with lawyers, medical specialists and other stakeholders regarding billing enquiries.
• Maintain financial records, case billing information and specialist fee schedules within Xero and internal systems.
• Handle the accounts email inbox, responding to enquiries and taking appropriate action.
• Maintain supplier, contractor and client records, onboarding new contacts and ensuring data integrity.
• Prepare routine financial reports and reconciliations for month‑end reporting.
• Assist with general finance and administrative tasks and support continuous improvement of accounts processes.

Required profile

• High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional demeanor when dealing with lawyers, medical specialists and other stakeholders.
• Experience using Xero accounting software.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
