Operations Manager - Materials Handling Site

About the role

A national, ASX-listed provider of environmental and industrial services is looking for an Operations Manager to lead a busy materials handling and processing site in Melbourne's southeast. The site runs mobile plant, a weighbridge and a high daily throughput, with commercial and retail customers. Volume and capacity are expected to double over the next 12 months, and the role comes with full ownership of the site, including its P&L.

Key responsibilities

• Own the site end to end across a seven-day operation, covering safety, compliance, logistics, plant, customers, people and the P&L
• Lead a team of around 10 plant operators, ground crew and weighbridge staff, supported by specialist HSE, finance, logistics and commercial partners
• Take back full ownership of scheduling, equipment and site audits, and understand the site's financials
• Embed traffic management and mobile plant safety systems, and agree a capacity plan for growth (resourcing, plant, traffic flow and layout)
• Keep outsourced logistics costs within budget and run the site independently after 12 months with consistent KPIs

Required profile

• Experience leading blue-collar, site-based teams; may already be an Operations Manager or a strong Site Supervisor
• Comfortable with volumes, costs and a site P&L, and leads safety from the front, including traffic management and plant–people interaction
• Background in quarrying, construction materials, logistics, distribution, warehousing, manufacturing or waste
• Unrestricted working rights in Australia; pre-employment checks are required
