Operating Room Assistant (Part‑time, 14 hrs/week)

About the role

The Operating Room Assistant provides essential support to the perioperative team, ensuring safe and efficient patient care throughout surgical procedures under the supervision of clinical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clinical staff with the care of paediatric and adult patients in the operating theatre.
• Transfer patients to and from the operating table safely.
• Prepare operating theatres, including set‑up of equipment and supplies.
• Support clinicians during surgical procedures and patient positioning.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to maintain a smooth workflow.

Required profile

• Recent experience as an Operations Assistant or in a similar role.
• Demonstrated competence in manual handling and equipment operation.
• Effective communication and time‑management abilities.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Problem‑solving mindset and willingness to learn patient‑positioning equipment.
• People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
