Occupational Therapist - Hand and Upper Limb Therapy

About the role

Health Nest, a small therapy practice in Launceston, Tasmania, is looking for an Occupational Therapist specialising in hand and upper limb therapy. The role sits close to local plastic and orthopaedic surgeons and GPs, within a growing practice. It suits people who want to start a hand therapy career or move into a new setting, and welcomes new graduates and early-career therapists.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and treat a variety of hand injuries and conditions
• Making splints and applying them in therapy sessions
• Working closely with local plastic and orthopaedic surgeons and GPs
• Providing therapy to help clients recover from injury, manage their condition, reduce pain and symptoms and return to the activities they love

Required profile

• Some hand and upper limb therapy experience; new graduates and early-career applicants are welcome
• Experience may come from a university placement, previous exposure to a hand therapy role, or hand therapy courses
• Full-time availability is ideal, but flexibility is offered for part-time work due to childcare, study or other commitments
• Problem-solving in assessments, creativity in making splints, and a collaborative, kind approach to clients
