Nurse Unit Manager - Acute and Urgent Care

About the role

Rural Northwest Health is looking for an experienced and dedicated Nurse Unit Manager to lead the Acute and Urgent Care centre at its Warracknabeal campus, one of three campuses serving the Wimmera and Mallee community. The role covers the operational effectiveness of the unit, including day-to-day management of the clinical area, rosters, quality and safety, use of resources and staff performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the clinical area and oversee the performance of the clinical team
• Manage rosters and workforce needs
• Ensure quality and safety across the unit
• Use resources, equipment and facilities effectively

Required profile

• Postgraduate training or education in aged care, acute medical or emergency nursing
• Postgraduate education in leadership and management, or plans to undertake it
• Proven ability to lead a team delivering safe, person-centred care
• Knowledge of key guidelines such as the Safe Patient Care Act, Code Grey requirements and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
• Commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice
• Ability to adapt to competing demands
• Annual flu vaccination; current police clearance, Working with Children Check and NDIS check, or willingness to obtain them
• AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
