Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry Clinic (ASD) Coordinator

About the role

The Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry Clinic (NPC) Coordinator works within the Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service at GV Health. The clinic provides neurodevelopmental assessments, focusing on autism assessments when there is a diagnostic dilemma, and sits in a small multidisciplinary team of psychologists, speech pathologists, psychiatrists and paediatricians.

Key responsibilities

• Screen referrals from families, carers and support services so they receive the appropriate service.
• Determine which assessment components are needed and schedule them.
• Complete some of the assessments themselves.
• Support clinicians in the wider program to build their competency in screening and assessing for autism.
• Seek partnership opportunities with community stakeholders to help other services deliver assessments.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Psychology, Social Work or Psychiatric Nursing.
• At least 5 years of experience in mental health.
• Advanced knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders.
• High level of organisational skills.
