National Operations Manager - Transport

About the role

DHL Supply Chain is looking for an experienced, commercially focused National Operations Manager to lead a strategic national transport operation. The role drives operational excellence, customer satisfaction, financial performance and continuous improvement across a complex transport network serving customers nationwide. It reports to senior leadership and is a highly visible, customer-facing position for a confident leader who can build strong stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the operational management of a national transport portfolio, keeping service delivery aligned with customer expectations and contractual requirements.
• Build strong customer relationships and act as a trusted advisor and senior escalation point.
• Drive improvements in DIFOT, service reliability and overall operational performance.
• Analyse operational data, identify trends and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Manage transport providers and carrier partners to optimise performance, cost and service outcomes.
• Review financial performance, identify efficiencies and contribute to contract profitability.
• Oversee claims management and support timely resolution of operational and customer issues.
• Collaborate with operations, transport, customer service and commercial teams, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide regular performance reporting, governance and business reviews to customers and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Significant experience in transport, logistics or supply chain operations in a customer-facing environment.
• Experience managing transport providers, contractors or carrier networks.
• Experience managing multi-site or national transport operations is highly regarded.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or a related discipline are desirable.

Required skills

• Strong commercial acumen and experience managing financial performance and cost efficiencies.
• Understanding of transport performance metrics, including DIFOT and service level management.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication and influencing skills.
