Mining Engineer – Underground Coal Operations

About the role

Anglo American Australia is seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to join the Technical Services team at Grosvenor Mine. You will support the restart of longwall production by delivering engineering solutions that ensure safe, compliant, and productive underground coal operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide best‑practice mining engineering services and support the Zero Harm safety objective.
• Plan and coordinate mine planning activities across weekly, short‑range, monthly, five‑year, and business planning cycles.
• Monitor, analyse, and report mine performance while managing technical projects.
• Contribute to ventilation, gas management, and technical project delivery.
• Support process coordinators and collaborate closely with the Operations team.
• Identify and propose productivity, safety, cost, and efficiency improvements.
• Lead the permit‑to‑mine process, ensuring all technical aspects are addressed.

Required profile

• Degree qualified Mining Engineer (or equivalent).
• Detailed understanding of coal mining processes and relevant legislation.
• Strong planning, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Previous experience in underground coal mining operations.
• Experience with mine planning tools such as XPAC, IntelliCAD, AutoCAD, Mine Planner, or Deswik.
