Mining Engineer – Short‑Term Planning

About the role

Alcoa is seeking a Mining Engineer to support its Western Australia mining operations. The role offers a Monday‑to‑Friday roster on a site near Mandurah, providing a stable work‑life balance without the typical FIFO schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage short‑term mine plans aligned with overall strategy, targets and completion criteria.
• Monitor production schedules, identify gaps or risks and implement corrective actions proactively.
• Collaborate with production and development teams to identify integration points, constraints and improvement opportunities.
• Review and produce designs for haul roads, ramps, dumps and dig locations.
• Maintain effective stakeholder communication and stay current with industry trends, technologies and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven experience in mine operations, short‑term planning and mine design.
• Strong understanding of mining equipment, processes and operational best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with the capacity to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency with mine CAD and planning software; experience with Deswik CAD, SHED and Alastri is desirable.
