Mid-level AWS DevOps Engineer – Melbourne

About the role

Join a fast‑growing technology company in the renewable energy sector as a mid‑level AWS DevOps Engineer. Based in Melbourne, you will work closely with a local development team and a global DevOps group to modernise and scale the company’s cloud infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Help evolve and scale a modern cloud environment, migrating from container services to Kubernetes.
• Design, build and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform across multiple AWS regions.
• Set up and maintain secure networking, including VPN and IPsec connections to external systems.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) to streamline build and release processes.
• Collaborate with developers to identify code inefficiencies and suggest performance improvements.
• Support platform security and contribute to best‑practice guidelines.
• Continuously monitor, diagnose and resolve bottlenecks in the environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience working in an AWS environment (EC2, RDS, S3).
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or Amazon EKS is a plus.
• Basic development experience, ideally with Python.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, VPNs and IPsec.
• Inquisitive mindset with a focus on problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
