Mid-level AWS DevOps Engineer (Melbourne)

About the role

We are a fast‑growing technology company in the renewable‑energy space, looking for a mid‑level AWS DevOps Engineer to join our Melbourne team. You will work closely with local developers and a global DevOps group to modernise our cloud platform and support large‑scale energy‑storage assets.

Key responsibilities

• Evolve and scale a modern cloud environment, including a hands‑on migration from ECS to Kubernetes.
• Build and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform across multiple AWS regions.
• Set up and maintain secure networking, including VPN and IPsec connections to external systems.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions to streamline build and release processes.
• Collaborate with software engineering and data teams to optimise infrastructure usage and reduce costs.
• Support platform security and contribute to best‑practice guidelines.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, propose improvements, and continuously enhance system reliability.

Required profile

• Proven experience working in an AWS environment, especially with ECS.
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with Kubernetes or Amazon EKS is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including VPNs and IPsec.
• Previous software development experience (e.g., Python) is a plus.
• Ability to work closely with development teams rather than hand‑off tasks.
• Inquisitive mindset with a focus on understanding the “why” behind issues.
• Excellent problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
