Mental Health Team Leader (Psychologist, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist)

About the role

Queensland Corrective Services is recruiting a Mental Health Team Leader for Woodford Correctional Centre, just outside the Glass House Mountains on the Sunshine Coast. The role provides clinical leadership, supervision and operational management within a multidisciplinary team delivering mental health services to male prisoners in a maximum-security setting. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with flexible working arrangements that can be considered.

Key responsibilities

• Clinical leadership: provide high-level clinical leadership and consultation, deliver complex assessments, interventions and person-centred care, and maintain a senior-level caseload.
• Coordinate referral pathways, crisis management, clinical reviews and transition planning.
• Chair multidisciplinary meetings, including those covering suicide risk assessment and complex case management.
• Collaborate with external organisations, centre operational teams and specialist units, and lead opportunities for service improvement and quality enhancement.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance support, fatigue and workload monitoring, and develop succession plans.
• Build team capability through training, education and policy and guideline development, and observe and give feedback on clinical practice.
• Take part in stakeholder engagement and operational discussions on mental health service delivery.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Psychology or Behavioural Science with full general registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA, OR a tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy registered with AHPRA, OR a tertiary qualification in Social Work eligible for AASW membership.
• C Class driver's licence.
