Medical Receptionist

About the role

Avant Practice Solutions is seeking a compassionate, organised and customer‑focused Medical Receptionist to join its Box Hill team. Working from the office Monday to Friday, you will be the trusted point of contact for patients, doctors and healthcare providers, ensuring smooth practice operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, doctors and healthcare providers.
• Manage a high volume of enquiries, handling approximately 80 calls per day with professionalism and empathy.
• Book, coordinate and manage appointments across a variety of specialist practices.
• Liaise with patients, referrers, hospitals, specialists and other healthcare stakeholders.
• Process medical administration tasks and maintain accurate patient records using cloud‑based systems.
• Support the efficient day‑to‑day operation of multiple medical practices.

Required profile

• Previous experience in customer service, administration or medical reception (medical experience desirable but not essential).
• Exceptional communication skills with a warm, professional and empathetic phone manner.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Confidence using technology and quick learning of new systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Experience or ability to quickly learn medical practice management software such as Gentu and Clinic to Cloud.
