Medical Doctor – General Practice

About the role

The Medical Doctor will join a multidisciplinary practice in Sunbury, Melbourne, delivering comprehensive general practice care to a diverse community. This full‑time position involves direct patient consultations, chronic disease management and collaboration with on‑site specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient consultations, take histories and perform physical examinations.
• Order, interpret and act on diagnostic tests, including laboratory and imaging results.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based management plans for acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
• Provide preventive health services, immunisations and health education.
• Coordinate care with in‑house specialists, allied health professionals and external providers.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions and teaching activities.

Required profile

• Current medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with full or limited registration on the Medical Board of Australia.
• Experience in general practice or primary care, including chronic disease and preventive care.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and treatment‑planning abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development; FRACGP or working towards fellowship is highly regarded.
