Mechanical Technician

About the role
BlueScope is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join the Paint and Finishing Maintenance team at its Springhill – Port Kembla manufacturing facility. In this hands‑on position you will maintain mechanical equipment to the highest safety, quality and reliability standards.
Key responsibilities
- Isolate equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Inspect production and quality‑critical equipment, conduct fault finding and resolve non‑conformances.
- Continuously improve maintenance practices and strategies.
- Generate supply, stock and purchase requisitions, schedules, work orders and parts listings using SAP.
- Act as acting supervisor when the maintenance coordinator is on leave.
Required profile
- Motivated with a strong technical background.
- Fitting/machining trade qualification.
- Experience in a manufacturing or heavy‑industrial environment performing maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn computerised maintenance systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
