Mechanical Engineering Specialist – Emergency Response

About the role
Join Airservices Australia’s Next Generation Fleet team as a Mechanical Engineering Specialist on a two‑year fixed‑term contract. Based in Melbourne or Brisbane with a hybrid schedule (three days onsite), you will help deliver new Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles and support the existing fleet.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans for new ARFF vehicles.
- Conduct vehicle testing and produce acceptance reports.
- Provide day‑to‑day engineering support for current fleet assets.
- Collaborate with fleet, operations and technical stakeholders to ensure safety and operational readiness.
Required profile
- Hands‑on mechanical engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) and eligibility for professional registration.
- Experience working with vehicles or heavy mechanical systems, preferably in emergency services.
- Proven ability to investigate issues and deliver evidence‑based recommendations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across diverse stakeholders.
- Australian citizenship (ASIC required) for security clearance.
