Mechanical Engineer – Reliability Team

About the role

Bega Cheese is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join its Reliability Team at the Wetherill Park site in Sydney, which is the hub for milk-based beverages on the eastern seaboard. The site makes fresh and extended shelf-life products, including short-pack milk-based beverages and UHT long-life unrefrigerated milk, and produces 75 million litres of products such as Dare Iced Coffee, Dairy Farmers, Farmers Union and Big M. Reporting to the site leader, the engineer plans the strategic direction for packaging equipment and continuous improvement, and leads data-acquisition improvement projects.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver implementation, site engineering, capital and new product development projects, meeting safety, cost, quality and benefit targets.
• Identify and provide solutions for process improvement opportunities to support continuous improvement of operations.
• Mentor and give technical expertise to maintenance and production staff.
• Lead and support continuous improvement and ad-hoc projects.
• Support and assist in developing HACCP, safety and environmental plans.

Required profile

• Experience working in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated experience in project and change management.
• Ability to work with a diverse range of team members and stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
