Mechanical Engineer - HVAC Equipment Design

About the role

A recruitment consultant is advertising a permanent, full-time Mechanical Engineer position focused on HVAC equipment design, based in the south-western suburbs of Sydney. The role involves creating bespoke, customised HVAC systems for a progressive engineering organisation that manufactures HVAC equipment. It is a Monday-to-Friday position with flexible start and finish times, paid up to $160,000, and is not open to sponsorship or work visas.

Key responsibilities

• Translate technical requirements from clients and consultants into practical mechanical designs for HVAC applications.
• Design and review components such as compressors, fans and heat exchangers within HVAC systems.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams, incorporating inputs from electrical and controls engineering.
• Communicate with mechanical consultants and internal teams to clarify designs and solve technical challenges across project phases.

Required profile

• Degree-qualified mechanical engineer with demonstrable HVAC design experience.
• Legal right to work in Australia, such as permanent residency or equivalent; sponsorship is not available.
• Effective communicator able to work in diverse engineering teams and with external consultants.

Required skills

• Proficiency in mechanical design tools.
• Familiarity with key HVAC components.
