Mechanical & Electrical Maintainer – Mining Operations

About the role

Yancoal MTW is seeking enthusiastic Mechanical and Electrical Maintainers to join its mining team at Mount Thorley Warkworth. You will work on a rotating 4/5 roster, supporting the continuous operation of one of Australia’s largest open‑cut coal mines.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planned maintenance, breakdown repairs and machine rebuilds on a diverse OEM fleet.
• Contribute to productivity and continuous‑improvement initiatives across truck, field and mobile equipment.
• Maintain equipment such as Komatsu, Caterpillar, Hitachi, NHL trucks, water carts, graders, track dozers, scrapers, service trucks, Letourneau loaders, Liebherr & Hitachi excavators, P&H shovels, draglines and drills.
• Work safely within a team environment and adhere to Yancoal’s safety standards.

Required profile

• Demonstrates Yancoal’s values of People, Safety, Innovation, Integrity and Excellence.
• Possesses a Plant Mechanic or High Voltage Electrical trade qualification (or equivalent).
• Proven heavy‑industry experience with strong communication skills.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently.
• Commitment to producing high‑quality work and following risk‑assessment processes.

• Plant Mechanic Trade Qualification
• High Voltage Electrical Trade qualification
• Diagnostic problem‑solving across truck, field and mobile fleets
• SAP experience (desirable)
• OEM equipment expertise (Komatsu, Caterpillar, Hitachi, NHL, etc.)
• High‑voltage switching
• Industry‑relevant high‑risk tickets
• Planning, scheduling and risk‑assessment knowledge
