Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Maddington team, designing and delivering overhead cranes and custom lifting equipment for mining, industrial and infrastructure projects across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Design overhead cranes, hoists and customised lifting equipment using Space Gass and AutoCAD.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical documentation and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, customer specifications and internal quality requirements.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, project managers and workshop personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop practical engineering solutions for custom lifting applications and contribute to continuous product improvement.
• Manage multiple engineering projects, delivering quality outcomes within budget and schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in heavy industry, manufacturing, structural steel or materials handling.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD or comparable 3D CAD software and the Microsoft Suite.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and structural engineering design principles.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical documentation and manufacturing drawings.
• Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Strong organisational, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
