Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Arkeus is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead a team in creating complex, cutting‑edge mechatronic products for defence and national‑security applications. You will own the detailed mechanical design and drive product evolution for new platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead detailed mechanical design of Arkeus products, including adaptation for new applications.
• Develop CAD‑driven models, drawings, and sealed enclosure designs (IP67‑rated).
• Select appropriate materials and define fits, tolerances, and mechanical fastening solutions.
• Support design verification, testing, and validation activities.
• Collaborate with machinists, manufacturers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful build and integration.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical design engineering of high‑value, complex mechatronic systems.
• Hands‑on involvement across the full product lifecycle from concept to validation.
• Strong understanding of robust mechanical design fundamentals (load paths, material selection, tolerances).
• Ability to take ownership of designs through to manufacture with a pragmatic, execution‑focused mindset.
