Managing Director – Commercial Insurance

About the role

This is a senior leadership position overseeing commercial insurance growth across the North of England and Scotland. You will influence regional strategy, coach high‑performing account teams and help shape the future of the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the new‑business strategy for the North and Scotland, travelling to regional offices as needed.
• Support and develop Account Executives to maximise new‑business performance.
• Coach teams on sales strategy, prospecting, relationship development and handling complex opportunities.
• Share practical commercial insight gained from your own successful insurance sales career.
• Identify regional growth opportunities and help define business‑development plans.
• Build a high‑performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability and sustainable growth.
• Work with executive leadership to influence the wider commercial direction of the organisation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in the UK commercial insurance broking market.
• Proven track record of personally winning significant commercial insurance clients.
• Demonstrated ability to coach and develop sales teams and senior leaders.
• Experience in a senior commercial‑insurance leadership role such as Managing Director, Commercial Director, Head of Sales or similar.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of commercial insurance products and broking processes.
• Strong leadership and people‑development capabilities.
• Strategic thinking and ability to translate market insights into actionable plans.
