Manager, Sentence Management

About the role

The Manager of Sentence Management provides operational leadership for sentence management teams across individual locations and regional hubs. This role ensures that prisoners are lawfully detained, correctly classified for security, and placed appropriately while developing plans for their progression.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage sentence management staff, overseeing performance, training, and development.
• Ensure quality assurance and governance of all detention, classification, and placement activities.
• Maintain compliance with legislation, policy, and practice directives in a correctional environment.
• Analyse workload trends and allocate resources to meet operational demands.
• Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading and managing teams, including HR processes.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and escalate issues appropriately.
• Background in criminal justice or related field, with rapid acquisition of legislative knowledge.
• Experience in governance, oversight systems, and quality assurance.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with peers, staff, and external partners.
