Manager, R&D & Government Incentives

About the role

BDO is seeking a Manager to join its R&D & Government Incentives team in Brisbane. You will lead client engagements, help organisations access tax incentives and government grants, and support innovation‑driven growth across sectors such as agribusiness, manufacturing, software and life sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client projects to identify and optimise R&D tax incentives and government grants.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering strategic advice and high‑quality service.
• Interpret and apply relevant legislation to assess eligible R&D activities and expenditures.
• Act as the primary contact for finance and technical stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration.
• Coach and support junior team members.
• Partner with practice leadership to achieve business development and practice‑growth goals.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in R&D tax, preferably within a Big 4 or mid‑tier professional services firm.
• Strong client advisory and relationship‑management capabilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Comfort with technical concepts and translating them for diverse audiences.
