Manager - Oceania Data Office
EY · Adelaide
Job description
About the role
The Oceania Data Office manages data as a trusted, well-governed asset. As Data Office Manager, you will support regional priorities across data ownership, stewardship, classification, quality, access and lifecycle management, and help advance AI-ready data, synthetic data and common data standards, frameworks and tools. You will also support the regional delivery of Dataguard, a global program strengthening how EY protects information across emerging and established technology channels. The role reports to the Oceania Data Lead within the Chief Technology and Innovation Office and can be performed from any EY office across Australia, with potential flexibility and reduced hours.
Key responsibilities
- Help establish and maintain data ownership, stewardship, classification, quality, access and lifecycle practices across Oceania
- Support initiatives such as Data Management capability uplift, AI-ready data, Synthetic Data and common data standards, frameworks and tools
- Work with the Global Data Office, other regions, Service Lines and Risk teams to align priorities and share good practice
- Coordinate stakeholders and help establish sustainable business-as-usual practices and reporting
- Support Dataguard by coordinating readiness, communications, adoption, escalation and ongoing ownership with Risk, Information Security, Technology and global teams
- Identify emerging data protection risks and opportunities to strengthen controls, giving leadership a clear view of impacts, readiness and residual exposure
Required profile
- Experience delivering data management, data governance, technology change, risk or compliance initiatives in a large, complex organisation
- Practical understanding of data protection risks and controls, including how data moves through AI tools, endpoints, browsers, cloud storage and email
- Strong stakeholder, change and communication skills, able to influence teams outside your line
- Ability to judge when to handle issues locally versus escalating them globally, and to work across time zones
- Experience running a regional delivery and engagement rhythm for a program whose controls are designed by other teams
Required skills
- Ideally: experience supporting a global initiative while balancing global consistency with local requirements
- Ideally: familiarity with Microsoft Purview, endpoint management or comparable data protection and device tooling
- Ideally: exposure to Responsible AI, data classification, privacy or regulatory obligations, and data governance fundamentals
- Ideally: certifications such as CIPP, CISM or CRISC, or a degree in a technology, data, cyber security or risk discipline
What we offer
- Career development with future-focused skills
- Flexible work arrangements
- A benefits package including a yearly wellness incentive, an extra eight weeks of flex leave per year and family-friendly policies including up to 26 weeks of gender-neutral paid parental leave
- Competitive, negotiable salary based on skills and experience
