Manager, Legislation and Regulation

About the role

The Manager, Legislation and Regulation will lead the delivery of legislative policy projects for the Queensland Government, providing high‑quality strategic advice to senior executives and ensuring the unit meets its objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the development of bills and subordinate legislation, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
• Provide comprehensive strategic advice to the Director‑General, the Office of the Minister and senior departmental staff on legislative issues, risks and opportunities.
• Motivate and guide a client‑focused workforce, fostering a collaborative community of practice across the department.
• Support the implementation of Queensland Government policies and contribute to operational planning, financial and HR monitoring.
• Participate in strategic planning processes and ensure alignment with departmental imperatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading legislation development projects or the ability to quickly acquire relevant knowledge.
• Demonstrated skill in engaging internal and external stakeholders on complex legislative matters.
• Successful track record of leading teams and managing programs to achieve organisational goals.
• Strong analytical, conceptual and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of providing authoritative advice to senior management.
• Effective negotiation and influencing capabilities.
