About the role

The Manager Investigations leads the statewide investigative function for the Office of the Public Guardian, delivering high‑quality outcomes and strategic advice to the Public Guardian and their delegates. This senior position combines operational leadership with expert investigative knowledge to protect vulnerable adults and children across Queensland.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and management to the Investigations team, ensuring compliance with legislative, ethical and procedural requirements.
• Offer high‑level strategic and operational advice to the Public Guardian on the performance of statutory investigations and the exercise of statutory powers.
• Analyse data, identify emerging trends, and inform decision‑making on investigative practices, response, and service design.
• Prepare substantial submissions, reports and correspondence on strategic and operational matters.
• Engage with stakeholders, negotiate on sensitive issues, and promote the function’s strategic goals.
• Drive continuous improvement through performance management, policy development and practice design.

Required profile

• Demonstrated senior leadership experience in investigations or related government functions.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret data and identify trends.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for high‑level reporting and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work flexible hours and travel across Queensland as required.
• Valid C class driver’s licence.
