Manager, Crown Intellectual Property (IP)

About the role

The Manager of Crown Intellectual Property (IP) will lead the development and delivery of IP policies and support services across Queensland Government agencies. This senior position ensures that Crown IP is managed consistently, aligns with the state’s social, environmental and economic objectives, and fosters a collaborative community of practice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide IP policy guidance to agencies, promoting consistency, maturity and innovation.
• Design and manage whole‑of‑government IP projects, including training programmes and IP audits.
• Research and implement IP commercialisation assistance, rewards mechanisms and best‑practice approaches in partnership with the Public Service Commission.
• Oversee contract management for remuneration agreements with copyright collecting societies.
• Offer strategic advice on IP policy and legislation, prepare submissions, briefing notes and ministerial responses.
• Mentor staff in preparing IP correspondence and support challenging assignments.
• Lead cross‑agency collaboration to share IP information, identify opportunities and strengthen interjurisdictional networks.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in IP policy development, administration or related legal frameworks.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
• Excellent written communication skills for high‑level policy documents and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to lead and mentor teams across government departments.
