Manager, Crown Intellectual Property (IP)

About the role
The Manager, Crown Intellectual Property (IP) will support the administration of Crown IP across Queensland Government agencies. You will develop and deliver IP policies, initiatives and guidance to ensure consistent and effective management of Crown IP that aligns with the state’s social, environmental and economic objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Provide IP policy support to agencies, fostering a community of practice and promoting consistency and maturity in Crown IP management.
- Facilitate high‑quality, whole‑of‑government IP projects, including modernising training, conducting audits and supporting policy development.
- Review and implement IP commercialisation assistance and education, researching reward mechanisms and best‑practice approaches in collaboration with the Public Service Commission.
- Manage remuneration agreements with copyright collecting societies on behalf of the State, ensuring robust contract management.
- Offer strategic advice and analysis on IP policy and legislation, contribute to submissions to state and federal bodies, and engage in interjurisdictional consultations.
- Prepare high‑level written correspondence, submissions, briefing notes and ministerial responses, mentoring staff in IP communications.
- Lead collaboration across CDSB and government agencies to share IP information, identify opportunities and strengthen networks.
Required profile
- Relevant experience in intellectual property policy and administration within a government or public‑sector context.
