Management Accountant – Capital Accounting

About the role

Fortescue is seeking a Management Accountant to join its Capital Accounting team in Perth. The role sits at the intersection of finance and project delivery, ensuring capital investments are accurately recorded and compliant with standards. You will support the full lifecycle of capital projects and lease accounting, providing insights for business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Process month‑end transactions for capital and lease accounting, including journal entries, accruals, reporting and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Review projects during budgeting and forecasting to confirm capital nature.
• Assess and approve capital expenditure requests, creating project records in SAP.
• Support project closures, depreciation/amortisation postings, asset disposals and sales.
• Assist with lease accounting, maintain the SAP leasing module and reconcile lease payments.
• Prepare capital and lease disclosure notes for half‑year and year‑end reporting.
• Provide information for audit requests throughout interim, half‑year and year‑end audits.
• Coordinate external capital reporting to government agencies.
• Update training materials and standard procedures for capital and lease accounting.

Required profile

• CPA or CA qualification, or working towards one.
• Experience in financial, project or management accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
