Maintenance Technician – Train Diesel Powerpack

About the role

Alstom is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join its Service/Maintenance team in Bellevue, WA. You will support the preventive and corrective maintenance of a diesel multiple‑unit (DMU) fleet that will operate the Australind service between Perth and Bunbury.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and fault‑rectification on diesel trains according to established plans.
• Inspect, service, troubleshoot, and replace components of diesel powerpack systems, including engines, transmissions, cooling, and fuel systems.
• Conduct mechanical system inspections on brakes, bogies, couplers, suspension, doors, HVAC, and underframe equipment.
• Diagnose faults, execute root‑cause analysis, and support rapid restoration to minimise downtime.
• Ensure all work complies with safety requirements, work instructions, and maintenance standards.
• Prepare trains for service and verify operational readiness.
• Record maintenance actions, report defects, and update checklists and documentation.
• Assist in improving fleet reliability by identifying recurring issues and recommending corrective actions.

Required skills

• Experience with diesel powerpack systems (engines, transmission, cooling, fuel).
• Knowledge of mechanical components such as brakes, bogies, couplers, suspension, doors, HVAC, and underframe equipment.
• Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on rolling stock.
• Fault diagnosis and root‑cause troubleshooting.
