Maintenance Officer – Residential Aged Care Home

About the role

Mercy Health is seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer to support its Residential Aged Care Home in Warrnambool. The role keeps the building, grounds and facilities safe, functional and well maintained for residents, staff and visitors, covering ongoing repairs, preventative maintenance and general upkeep, and helping identify and fix safety concerns.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out grounds maintenance, ongoing repairs and preventative servicing of buildings, plant, equipment and furniture.
• Liaise with and oversee contractors, including site access and inductions.
• Identify, report and implement improvements across the facility.
• Help identify and rectify WHS/OH&S issues to keep the environment safe.
• Maintain accurate records using computer-based maintenance systems.
• Contribute to a collaborative, resident-focused team.

Required profile

• Previous maintenance experience; trade background or qualification preferred but not essential.
• Experience in aged care or hotel/hospital settings highly regarded.
• Good knowledge of WHS/OH&S standards and regulatory maintenance requirements for aged care and independent living.
• Experience managing contractors and understanding of HVAC, essential services and Building 9C regulations.
• Current police record check, trade-based qualification or more than 3 years' commercial maintenance experience, and a current driver's licence.

Required skills

• Strong time management, organisational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers; experience with maintenance management systems is an advantage.
