Maintenance Fitter - Day and Afternoon Shift

About the role

General Mills at Rooty Hill is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Maintenance Fitter to help keep its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility running smoothly. The role sits within a team that brings brands such as Old El Paso, Latina Fresh and 25° South to consumers across Australia and New Zealand, and covers both day and afternoon shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a wide range of manufacturing equipment and site infrastructure, following preventative maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues on automated equipment.
• Take part in continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and productivity.
• Work with Quality, R&D and Engineering teams on projects involving new equipment design and installation.
• Ensure all work complies with company health and safety policies.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Machining).
• Proven experience in a food manufacturing or related industry (essential).
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with pneumatics (essential).
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, and excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Required skills

• Welding (TIG and MIG) and minor fabrication work.
• Experience with automated plant and mechanical machine timing.
• Experience with packaging equipment (case packers, thermoformers, conveyors) is highly desirable.
• Desirable but not essential: D Class electrical licence, forklift licence, SAP and Microsoft Office experience.
