Logistics Officer – Import/Export

About the role

Based in Narangba and reporting to the Senior Inventory and Logistics Officer, the Logistics Officer – Import/Export coordinates and manages the movement of goods across international borders. The role ensures shipments are delivered on time, comply with trade regulations and are cost‑effective, supporting Sandvik’s mining and tunnelling product supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate end‑to‑end international import and export shipments.
• Manage container movements, vessel schedules and estimated times of arrival.
• Prepare and maintain all required import/export documentation.
• Ensure compliance with customs, trade and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines and transport providers.
• Control container flow and monitor detention and demurrage costs.
• Provide clear shipment updates to internal stakeholders.
• Support cost control, reporting and periodic stocktakes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in import/export or international freight coordination.
• Strong understanding of container logistics, shipping processes and trade compliance.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities.
• Detail‑oriented and proactive in maintaining compliance and cost efficiency.
• Effective communicator comfortable working with freight forwarders and internal teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of import/export documentation and customs regulations.
• Familiarity with container movement planning and vessel scheduling.
• Ability to monitor and control detention and demurrage expenses.
