Livestock Supervisor

About the role

JBS Australia is seeking an experienced Livestock Supervisor for its Dinmore operations, reporting to the Plant Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing the day-to-day operation of the livestock yards and leading a team of stockpersons, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant movement of livestock while upholding animal welfare, workplace safety, traceability and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate livestock handling, including cattle receivals, yard movements, drafting, penning and dispatch
• Provide coaching, guidance and support to the team, building a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement
• Maintain accurate livestock records to support traceability obligations
• Monitor the presentation and upkeep of yard facilities and equipment
• Ensure workplace health and safety, quality assurance, environmental and HR standards are met

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in livestock handling and stockyard operations is advantageous
• Proven horsemanship skills and ability to supply and maintain your own horses and equipment (saddle, bridle, etc.); a minimum of two horses is required
• Previous leadership, supervisory or team-leading experience
• Strong commitment to animal welfare and low-stress stock handling
• Flexible to work a rotating roster

Required skills

• Experience with livestock traceability systems and record management
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
• Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to learn and drive continuous improvement
