Litigation Lawyer – Grade 7/8 (Parramatta, Hybrid)

About the role

This ongoing full‑time position is for a Litigation Lawyer (Grade 7/8) based in Parramatta with hybrid working options. You will join the Department of Customer Service Legal Division, providing legal services primarily to NSW Fair Trading and related agencies in a fast‑paced regulatory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, concise legal advice and representation across prosecutions, civil enforcement and administrative review litigation.
• Undertake litigation matters and brief counsel as required to ensure effective representation for the organisation.
• Analyse legislation and evidence to draft advice, court pleadings, statements of facts, submissions, briefing notes and correspondence.
• Assist clients and stakeholders on legal aspects of legislative breaches and develop guidance or training material to ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent qualification.
• Admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales with a current practising certificate.
• Relevant post‑qualification experience as a litigation lawyer.
• Strong analytical, lateral thinking and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of regulatory prosecutions, criminal law, administrative law and NSW court and tribunal practice.
