Lineworker - Merredin

About the role

Western Power is recruiting a permanent Lineworker for Merredin. Lineworkers build and maintain the transmission and distribution networks that give the community a safe and reliable electricity supply, respond quickly to faults to minimise disruption, and work safely in varied conditions while keeping good customer relations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment and make sure safe work practices are followed
• Keep teams on track to meet daily performance targets and stay in open communication with team members and stakeholders
• Receive, evaluate and prepare work parcels for implementation
• Respond promptly to faults, isolate the network for repairs and minimise customer impact
• Carry out programmed construction and maintenance work so the network operates safely, reliably and affordably
• Build network infrastructure to design specifications and construction standards
• Help build team capability by sharing technical knowledge and experience with less experienced colleagues

Required profile

• Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems Distribution / Transmission Overhead, or New Zealand Electricity Supply (Distribution) minimum level 4
• Demonstrated experience in constructing and maintaining transmission and/or distribution networks
• Demonstrated experience leading operational teams in such work
• Network authorisation including a construction white card and basic emergency life support
• Minimum MR licence

• Hourly base rate from $57.96 depending on qualifications and authorisations, plus a site allowance of $2.50 per hour
