Library Assistant – Collections

About the role

Join Townsville City Council's Library Services team as a Library Assistant – Collections. You will help keep library collections organised, maintained, and ready for the community to enjoy, working within a supportive team environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, process, handle and distribute library materials.
• Support day‑to‑day operations of the Collections Services team.
• Maintain accurate records and follow established library processes.
• Assist patrons with basic enquiries related to collections.
• Ensure the collection area remains tidy and safe.

Required profile

• Current Working with Children Blue Card.
• Enjoys practical, hands‑on work and follows routine processes accurately.
• Positive attitude, respectful communication and strong customer‑service focus.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to workplace adjustments as needed.

What we offer

• Permanent full‑time position (9‑day fortnight, 36.25 hrs/week).
• Salary range $59,278 – $68,048 per annum + superannuation.
